Frau Perchta/Berchta - From the Alps of Germany - her name may mean "the bright one" and is likely related to the name Berchtentag, meaning the feast of the Epiphany. She is a Guardian of the Beasts and patroness of spinning and weaving, and may lead the Wild Hunt. She may appear either as beautiful and white as snow, or as elderly and haggard - and bestow blessings upon those who worked hard in the past year. Those who did not, she would slit their bellies open, remove stomach and guts, and stuff the hole with straw and pebbles.
